Technology Desk: When it comes to online dating and matrimonial platforms, the genuineness of any profile you come across is a key concern. Sometimes its users are unsure if the person he or she is chatting with is real or fake. They might even get into trouble after exchanging contacts or meeting the person in real.
In view of addressing these issues and make online dating more secure, popular dating and social media platform Tinder has recently launched a new profile authentication feature.
It has introduced a photo verification feature where profile owners will have to verify themselves by recording a selfie video in the platform through its new face recognition system.
According to this new feature, profile owners would only get the blue checkmark – that indicates a genuine and verified profile – only after the platform is able to match their profile picture with the selfie video.
In a Twitter post, Tinder stated that “real recognizes real that’s why our Photo Verified members can now ask their matches to get verified before chatting, so you can focus your energy on verified cuties only”.
In another Tweet it said that “We leveled up & added selfie video to our verification process so it’s easier than ever to get that blue checkmark!”.
Further, Tinder also added that “this is your sign to get verified on Tinder and let people know you are just as hot & cute & gorgeous in person as you are in the pics they sent the group chat.”
Hoodwinking people through fake profiles in the name of online dating is a major problem in such online social platforms. Integrating a system that guarantees authenticity was the need of the hour.
