Global Desk: The Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain passed away at the age of 96 in Balmoral on Friday evening due to health complications. The news of her death was announced by the Buckingham Palace.

Her eldest son, Prince Charles will succeed her as the head of the monarch and become the new King with the name King Charles III.

The newly appointed Prime Minister of Britain Liz Truss in a statement said Her Majesty the Queen was the rock on which the modern Great Britain was built, and the country has come along way under her reign. She has been an inspiration to many Britons.

Global leaders from across the world starting from France to India have extended their heartfelt condolences on the death of the Queen.

Born in 1926, the Queen Elizabeth II took the reins of the monarch at the tender age of 25 after her father King George VI had an untimely death. Since than Her Majesty the Queen has served as the head of the monarch and the Commonwealth for 70 years, becoming one of the longest serving monarchs in the modern history.
