Sports Desk: On Thursday, in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup England defeated India by 10 wickets in Australia.
By batting first India managed to put up a competitive target of 168 after losing six wickets. This included resounding performances from former captain Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya with their scores of 50 and 63 respectively.
However, to everyone’s surprise, England succeeded in achieving this score within 16 overs without losing a single wicket. Their opening pair Alex Hales and Jos Buttler put on an incredible and explosive batting performance by contributing 86 and 80 runs respectively.
While India were billed as one of the favourite contenders of the tournament on paper, their losing streak in semi-final matches of major ICC tournaments have continued even under the captain coach pair of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid.
On the other side, Pakistan have again proved to be the underdogs of the tournament by reaching the finals even after losing the first two matches in the super 12 stage which also includes their opening defeat against traditional rivals India.
England and Pakistan will now face each other in the finals in Melbourne on Sunday. Both the teams will be competitive enough and give their best. While England have a better batting line up, Pakistani bowling unit is being said to be best in the tournament by cricketing gurus.
