India: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday stated that many of the problems and challenges we are facing today can be solved through Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas and principles.
Prime Minister Modi stated this while addressing at the 36th Convocation Ceremony of the Gandhigram Rural Institute situated in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, according to report by PIB.
By congratulating the new graduates of the institute, Modi said that whether it is about the crisis of climate change or ending conflicts, Gandhi’s ideas have answers to all the burning problems, and it is becoming more relevant in the present context.
Besides, Modi also highlighted some of the Gandhi’s key ideas on rural development through technology, use of Khadi, among others.
Modi said that Gandhi encouraged people to adopt Khadi and saw its use and production as a form of self-reliance in rural India.
Modi also added that the present government is doing its best to popularize Khadi among people through its ‘Khadi for nation, Khadi for fashion’ initiative, due to which its sales have grown by 300 per cent over the last 8 years.
Additionally, by speaking on rural development, the Prime Minister said that Gandhi wanted rural India to progress and rural life to be conserved. In view of this, by taking inspiration for rural development from him, during the recent years the government has taken many innovative steps for the scientific and technological development of rural India through high-speed internet, sustainable agriculture, electricity, roads, sanitization, among others.
Furthermore, Modi also encouraged the graduates and youngsters of the nation to take inspiration from Gandhi and be the ‘builders of new India’ who can lead the nation for the next 25 years.
