Global Desk: Japan is leading a new innovation in its public toilets. Its public loos are set to undergo a high-tech transformation, with the introduction of a new QR Code service to make peeing easier and simple.

This new initiative launched by its toilet brand TOTO aims to help its public locate nearby washrooms easier, where they would be able to track the location and availability of public toilets and queue levels in real time just like tracking a cab on their mobile screen. The only requirement is a smartphone with an internet access.

Not only this, the new system will also notify facility staff to better manage the toilets and maintain its cleanliness and hygiene levels.

This well thought service is definitely a groundbreaking approach that has reimagined how a public toilets could be well-managed and maintained. Other countries, especially in South Asia could too adopt this approach for the efficient management of public toilets and also to encourage its people to use public toilets and not pee in open areas.
