Medical researchers discover a rare blood group in a French woman

Sci-tech Desk: A rare blood group type named as “Gwada Negative” has been found in a French woman. This new blood group was identified in the woman while she was undergoing routine blood tests before a surgery.

The 54-year-old woman who originally belongs to the Caribbean island Guadeloupe have been so far the only known individual to have this unique blood group. She is believed to have possibly inherited the it from her parents, both of whom were having mutated genes.

The name “Gwada Negative” was given to this unique blood group by the scientists in France. The name linked her origins, besides it also sounded good in all languages.

This rare antibody has added the 48th blood group system in the world.
