Purbottar Hindi Sahitya Academy honours Dr Dayananda Pathak

Purbottar Hindi Sahitya Academy, Tezpur, Assam; in its annual conference on 8th may 2022, held at Nilamoni Phukan Aditorium, Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakhetra, Guwahati, has honored Dr Dayananda Pathak, a noted academician and writer of a good number of Assamese and English books over the last four decades.

In the citation given to him, the academy recalled his literary contributions in diverse fields of literary expressions. Dr Pathak, the citation mentions, has translated all the plays of Sankardeva and Madhabdeva, from Brajabuli to English. From out of his English transactions, a few plays of Sankardeva are being translated to French and Spanish languages. Some actors and actresses of United States of America, United Kingdom, France and Spain have also enacted those plays in those countries. Dr Pathak, the citation mentions, has also translated three major plays of Jyotish Prasad Agarwalla into English.

Besides, Dr Pathak is stated to be an Indo–Anglian poet from Assam. His poems have received accolades from across the country and abroad. Dr Pathak`s book on George Bernard Shaw is an important reference book for Shaw Studies across the country and abroad. He was an editor of the the Asom sahitya sabha Journal during the presidentship of Lakshyadhar Choudhury and Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Dr pathak is a regular columnist and a journalist of repute.

The conference of the Academy was attended by members from Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
