Editor’s Desk: War is fought for retention of power. People choose political career mostly for capture of power and to remain within the circle of power. For that different slogans are manufactured to suit the prevailing situation. Russia, simply in order to show off its power to the western world and to betray its grouse against NATO, has taken to war against Ukraine which is an independent country with its own political culture. Russia wants Ukraine to be a vassal state. Today we live in the twenty first century with renewed hopes for a better world. People have not forgotten the situation at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Vladimir Putin has chosen the road trodden by Hitler and other chauvinists, as it appears. But the impact of the war will not be limited to Russia and Ukraine alone. The conflict, solidly founded on egocentricity, will have its adverse impact on our economy. The oil prices will be unmanageably high. From tomorrow people will have to have the punch on their chests. The tea industry in Assam will have serious setback. Some of the companies having business with the Russian banks will be seriously affected. Russia will also have the same economic adversities, because most of the European countries have withdrawn their commercial and diplomatic relationships with Russia. The net result will be that Russia will be largely isolated from the world community. That way Russia`s economic sufferings will be unimaginably larger. On the contrary, Ukraine will receive financial succor from most of the freedom-loving countries of the world. So, Putin should realize the long trailing economic impact hovering over both Russia and Ukraine. Good sense should prevail at the earliest.
