Business Desk: The Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison cooked Indian dish khichdi on Saturday.

Morrison did this to celebrate a new trade deal signed by Australia an India.

He took on to his Instagram account and posted a selfie picture from his kitchen where he is seen cooking the popular Indian dish.

With the picture he also said that to celebrate the new trade agreement he chose to cook a favourite dish of his friend and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state Gujarat.

Adding emojis to his post, he also said that the dish was also approved by his family members.

“To celebrate our new trade agreement with India, the curries I chose to cook for curry night tonight are all from my dear friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gujurat province, including his favourite Khichdi,” he said.

Earlier in April, both the countries signed a new trade deal named the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (Ind-Aus ECTA).

It was signed by the Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and Australian Trade Minister Dan Tehan in presence of the prime ministers of both the countries.

The trade deal will reportedly allow India to do duty free export to over 95 of its goods in the Australian market.

The same includes products like jewellery, textiles, leather, and sports goods.

Prime Minister Modi has called this a ‘watershed moment’ for the relation between the two countries.

Similarly, Morrison stated that the agreement will further deepen the close ties between Australia and India.

Both the nations are important economic allies to each other. While India is Australia’s ninth largest trade partner, Australia is the 17th largest trade partner for India.
