64th Grammy Awards: Olivia Rodrigo becomes the best new artist of the year

Entertainment Desk: The 64th edition of the Grammy Awards was held on Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, United States.

The award ceremony was hosted by South African comedian and television celebrity Trevor Noah.

The Grammys, which is regarded as the music world’s most anticipated night honoured some of the best talents and musical creations of the past year and presented over 70 awards in numerous categories.

Olivia Rodrigo bagged the Best New Artist of the Year award, while Silk Sonic’s famous song “Leave the door open” became the song of the year.

However, Jon Batiste hogged maximum limelight by winning five out of eleven nominations. His album ‘We Are’ also became the best album of the year.

Alternatively, there were also Indian musicians among the winners. Indian music composer and environmentalist Ricky Kej was awarded for the Best New Age Album. Similarly, New York based Falguni Shah won in the Best Children’s Music Album category.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his good wishes to both the stars in the social media.

Indian music composer AR Rehman was also seen attending the ceremony along with his son Ameen. Rehman was also seen sharing a moment with the BTS band members on the occasion.  

In addition to the presentation of awards, several musical biggies also performed on the music’s most iconic award show. This included Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, among others.
