Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma heartbroken after watching ‘Kashmir Files’, grants special leave to government employees to watch the film
Guwahati, 16 March, 2022: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma watched the newly released film ‘Kashmir Files’ at a movie theatre in the Guwahati city on Tuesday.
The leaders and elected members of the state BJP and alliance parties were also present on the occasion.
After the end of the screening, Sarma said that he was heartbroken and moved by the representations in the film.
Referring to the narrative, he said that the film is based on historical facts and shows how the Kashmiri pandits were forced to leave their homeland in the name of religion.
He also added that terrorism has no religion irrespective of which religion one belongs to.
Sharing a picture through his social media account, Sarma also thanked its filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and said that he was moved by the heart-wrenching representation of the plight of the Kashmiri pandits.
He also said that the genocide and exodus of the Kashmiri pandits are a ‘blot of humanity’.
Moreover, he also encouraged everyone to watch the film and said that the Government of Assam will allow a half-day to all government employees to watch the film, if they produce the tickets to the concerned authority in their respective offices the next day.
