Tech Desk: As AI is growing at an imaginable speed, it is equally generating fear and doubt among people about a possible take-over of humans. However, US President does not think so. In a recent conversation he said that AI regulation was not required, and the warnings about AI going out of control and endangering the world was an exaggeration.
He said that there is a negative force that is bringing up things about AI that will not happen, and the fear of AI destroying humanity was nothing but a hoax. He also said that the only guardrail AI required was a strong and smart President, which the US already has.
Trump has consistently voiced strong support for the progress of AI. He and his allies believe that minimum regulation on AI is essential to compete in the tech race against China.
He also remarked that there are two groups of people when it comes to AI. He categorized the people who supported the growth of AI as ‘Americans’, in contrast to ‘panicans’ – the one who overreacts and easily panics.
AI’s development and regulation are not just a technological or diplomatic issue in the US right now. It is also a major political issue for the upcoming mid-term elections and the approaching presidential election cycle next year.
