Global Desk/India: The only survivor of the Air India AI-171 airplane has spoken to the local media after his miraculous escape from death. Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. He revealed that he saw airhostess and fellow passengers dying in front of his eyes. He also said he had thought he had died and does not believe how he survived.
What happened?
By recalling how he exited the crashing airplane, the 40-year-old man said that it felt like the plane had been stuck in the air seconds after the take-off and the lights started to flickering green and white inside the aircraft, after which it suddenly hit a building in full speed and exploded.
How did he escape from the airplane?
Ramesh also said that at first, he had thought that he had been dead, but than realized he was alive. He escaped from one of the emergency exits after he saw an opening in the fuselage. He added that he managed to unbuckle his seat belt and used his legs to push through the door and dragged himself out.
He also recalled that the side of the plane where he had sat was landing on the ground, and when he saw some space outside the aircraft he managed to escape through the door.
He also said that the other side of the aircraft was blocked by buildings, due to which nobody from that side could escape.
Where is he now?
Vishwash Kumar Ramesh is undergoing treatment in the local hospital now. As per reports, he has not suffered from any major injuries. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also met him in the hospital.
Viral footages on social media show Ramesh clad in a white t-shirt and trousers waking away from the site of the accident with minor injuries on his face. He was seen interactng with the locals and was also also holding his mobile phone on his hand. His survival from this heart wrenching tragedy is regarded by the global community as nothing less than a miracle.
