Global Desk: A new Pope has been finally elected! Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been elected as the new Pope.
He has chosen the name Pope Leo XIV and has become the 267 Pope and the first American in the history of the Catholic church.
Thousands of Catholics from around the world gathered outside the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel to witness the historical moment.
Born in Chicago, 69-year-old Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost is believed to hold similar inclusive and progressive views like Pope Francis, and is likely to carry forward his ideas.
