Sports Desk: India have won the T20 World Cup on Saturday defeating South Africa in the final match played at Barbados.

Batting first India had a slow start and managed to set a score of 171 in 20 overs, with an excellent innings of 76 from Virat Kohli. But despite seeming that the South Africans would comfortably chase the target, Indian bowlers’ brilliance in the last four overs ended their dreams of lifting the first world cup.

With this India have won its second T20 World Cup after MS Dhoni’s famous win against Pakistan in the inaugural edition. This has also made India the only team to win two T20 World Cups after West Indies and England.

In the post-match presentation, India captain Rohit Sharma expressed his happiness and sated that this victory was the result of the constant hard work of the players, coaching staff, and the management over last three to fours years.

Following the much-awaited victory, the fans of team India were seen ecstatically celebrating by bursting fireworks and even hitting the streets late at night.

This victory was significantly special for Indian cricket because it had not able to win any ICC tournament since 2011 despite its promising performances. They missed close opportunities in finals and semi-finals in the recent years, including its loss to Australia in the 50 over world cup in 2023. Inspite of this the team management and the players didn’t allow themselves to be demoralized and kept giving their best. Their labour and resolute spirit has finally borne fruit now and they are the champions again. This will undoubtedly inspire many uncoming cricketers and sportspersons in general representing the country.
