Sci-Tech Desk: A new finding by NASA into the K2-18 b exoplanet has uncovered some significant revelations. These revelations are concerned with the potential presence of another earth like planet where life could be possible.
NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope have identified traces of carbon bearing ingredients like carbon dioxide and methene in the atmosphere of the K2-18 b exoplanet.
As per NASA’s website, the findings indicates that K2-18 b could be a ‘Hycean exoplanet’. Therefore it could be asserted that there is a likelihood of the presence of water in K2-18 b with an ‘hydrogen rich atmosphere’ and ‘water ocean covered surface.’
NASA is carrying out further investigations following these findings.
K2-18 b is an exoplanet which orbits around K2-18 dwarf star. It is 120 light years away from the Earth. It is located in the Leo constellation. In size it is 8.6 times bigger than Earth. It was first was discovered in 2015.
