Explosion in Istanbul kills 6, President Erdogan suspects terror attack

Global Desk:  An explosion on a busy street in Istanbul, Turkey has killed at least six people and injured over 50 on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

The blast took place at around 16.30 hrs local time in a popular area named Taksim Square in the city, the BBC has reported.

The cause of the explosion is still unknown. The local authorities and the Turkish government are investigating the incident and trying to find possible terror link behind it.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a social media post has denounced this explosion that has taken innocent people’s lives and wished for the speedy recovery of the wounded.

Besides, in a televised press conference he also said that he smells ‘terror’ in the incident.

The global community has also condemned this incident and expressed its solidarity.
