Sonowal & Yediyurappa are the new members of BJP parliamentary board

India: Union Minister and former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with the former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa have been inducted in the parliamentary board of the ruling Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday.

Both the leaders were included by the party president JP Nadda while revamping the parliamentary board. At the same time, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan were removed.

The 11-member board has some significant powers of overseeing and regulating the party. Among others, it has the authority to supervise the formation and selection of ministers and other key posts in the party. Additionally, it also holds the power to oversee the discipline within the party members and take action against them.

At present, apart from the Sonowal and Yediyurappa, the board comprises of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, K Laxman, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Sudha Yadav, Singh Lalpura, and Satyanarayan Jatiya are members of the parliamentary board.
