Lifestyle Desk: On Tuesday, a overnight heavy rain and thunderstorm inundated the city of Guwahati in Assam. Due to this, multiple locations in the city and the adjoining regions witnessed landslides, power-cuts, and transport issues which brought the normal lives of the people to a standstill. Moreover, there will not be any quick as the meteorological department has informed the people to stay alert as it has forecasted the bad weather to continue in the next 24 hours.
In view of this, the Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) has requested the residents of the city to follow these simple steps in order to keep oneself and their family members safe during this bad climatic conditions.
By posting an update across the social media, APDCL has advised the people to keep an emergency kit ready with required essentials and also unplug electronic appliances to avoid any electrical accidents or short circuits at home.
Secondly, if you happen to be in a car during heavy rain and thunderstorm, as a safety measure it is advised to park your car at a secure place and remain inside until the storm recedes. Driving during such weather can cause accidents due to slippery and flooded streets and inadequate visibility of the road.
Likewise, it has not been recommended to walk through flooded road as there is always a possibility of the presence of electric current in the water through torn electric wires and posts.
