Sports Desk, 07 March, 2022: On Sunday, the top seeded Premier League club Manchester City clinched the much-anticipated Manchester derby match by thrashing Manchester United by four goals to one at the Etihad Stadium.
Like any other Manchester derby clash, fans of both the teams had expected a competitive performance form both the teams. However, the match ended up being an one sided affair, with the City totally dominating the United in almost every aspect of the game.
After the kick off, Manchester City got an early lead through a fine shoot by Kevin De Bruyne from just near the goal box. However, Jodan Sancho’s goal at the 22nd minute helped the United level back again.
Yet, United’s spirit did not last very long, as De Bruyne answered back again by hammering another fierce goal at the 28th minute.
In the second half, Manchester United looked totally out of track and allowed the City star from Algeria Riyad Mahrez score two successive goals, one of which came at the extra time.
With this Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have again regained their six points lead over second spotted Liverpool FC and continue to remain the favourite to again become the champions of England this season.
