This drink is set to be banned in the UK

Lifestyle Desk: The government in the UK is poised to make child health a central pillar of its public health policy. The Labour government has is set to ban the sale of energy drinks to children under-16 across the country.

Reflecting on the issue Prime Minister Keir Starmer stressed that it was not justifiable for retailers to sell highly caffeinated energy drinks and beverages to children, and the government would stop it and take tough decisions to keep UK’s children healthy.

The ban would be applicable to caffeinated drinks like Red Bull, Monster, and others with over 150mg of caffeine per liter. It is not applicable to soft drinks like Diet Coke.

The government aims to apply this law in view of the health of the young population, and prevent the growing health issues like obesity, dental problems, insomnia, lack of concentration, anxiety, and other physical and mental health ailments among them.

This ban could significantly be effective in preventing early health problems among children by restricting obesity cases by up to 40,000. According to reports it is estimated that around 100,000 children drink one beverage drink every day which is highly caffeinated.
