Your social media post might cost you a US Visa!

Global Desk: If you need a US Visa you might have to rethink what you post or not post on your social media accounts. A latest announcement by the US immigration authorities state that form now on US visa applicants would require to share their social media accounts as identifiers.

In a social media post the US Embassy India said that the applicants of US visa would have to list all social media usernames and handles of every platform they have used in the last five years on the DS-160 application forms. They also require to keep their profiles in public mode.

It added that omitting social media accounts would lead to the denial of visas and even result in ineligibility of future visas.

The Embassy further stated the social media accounts of the applicants would be scrutinized because every visa adjudication is a national security decision.

This latest announcement has ignited public debate over privacy concerns, freedom of expression, and the growing role of digital footprints in immigration decisions.
