Sci-Tech Desk: Have you ever heard a dog operating a camera during a live sporting event? World’s most popular cricketing league the Indian Premier Legue (IPL) has unveiled a dog camera operator to capture live moments from both on and off the field.
This dog is actually not a real dog. It is a robotic dog leveraged by Artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
This robotic dog made its on-field debut as part of the production team and was seen in action during a matchup between Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians.
Its capability to go inside the field and capture different moments during the game difficult for real camerapersons to do make it rare and extraordinary. More than the live match, the robotic dog became the centre of attention for the fans.
In an official social media post by IPL it introduced the newest member of the broadcast family, stating that apert from its camra works, it can also run, walk, jusmp and bring smiles. It also shared a video of the robot dog interacting with the players during training.
Certainly, AI is taking over every field including live sports production now. If it succeeds in t objective, then definitely it would be game-changer live sports production and elevate audiences’ viewing experience like never before. It is certainly a groundbreaking moment for live sports telecast and it could soon be adopted in other sports like football or tennis as well, with AI crossing the boundaries of media production.
