Northeast India’s largest business summit Advantage Assam draws global investors

Business Desk: Advantage Assam 2.0 – which is the investment and infrastructure summit of the northeastern state Assam, India began on 25 February 2025. The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of several national and international dignitaries and business tycoons.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said that East India and Northeast India are embarking on a new journey, and this summit is a mega initiative to intertwine the incredible potential and progress of Assam with the world.

In a social media post, he also said that Assam has become an attractive investment destination due to its significant growth over the last one decade.

Among others, India’s Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran, the founder of Adani Group – Gautam Adani were present on the occasion.

By reiterating their commitment and enthusiasm to the state’s progress, both Ambani and Adani, on behalf of the Reliance Industries and Adani Group announced investments initiatives worth 50,000 INR each in multiple sectors including AI, technology, hospitality, digital sectors, and more.

Likewise, Chandrasekaran of Tata Group also assured his resolve for the prosperity of Assam and declared investments worth 25,000 INR, focusing on sectors like electronic manufacturing, green energy, solar and renewable energy, and semiconductor. 

Assam Advantage 2.0, which is the second edition of the investment summit is poised to reshape the economic landscape of Assam, which is also known as the gateway of the northeastern India and the Southeast Asia. Besides, it is also known as a tea paradise, and also distinguished for its petroleum and natural gas, silk, and agricultural production.

Its enthusiastic Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is poised to make the state a paradise for doing business and demonstrated his dedication and proactive approach in attracting investors for the summit by travelling to multiple countries including Japan and Singapore.

How effectively this initiative drives economic prosperity in Assam and the northeast India remains to be seen.
