Is India’s Sharad Pawar losing his political brand?

India: Sharad Pawar, the popular Indian politician and the face of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has faced another setback in his political brand.

After a new ruling by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Pawar has lost his party brand name and the symbol to his nephew Ajit Pawar, who had recently broken away from the party to join the ruling alliance.

As per reports, Sharad Pawar has been asked to suggest a new party name and submit a list of symbols in order to fight the upcoming elections.

His supporters and party members have expressed their anger over the decision and called it unfortunate. They also stated that this was a ‘murder of democracy’.

Meanwhile, they are also set to take the matter to the Supreme Court.

Pawar, formed his NCP party in 1999 based on secular, socialist, and Gandhian principles.

The ruling has certainly put a question mark over the influence of Pawar’s political brand.
