Thought based control of machines could be the future of AI

Sci-Tech Desk: Have you ever wondered of controlling your electronic devices, gadgets, robotic machines without any touch or oral instructions but merely by your thoughts. Yes, mind-based controlling of machines and robotic devices seems like a possibility in the foreseeable future.

A recent study from the University of Technology Sydney have come up with a new innovation that can allow people to operate numerous robotic machines and devices without any physical contact but solely through their thoughts, reports sciencedaily.com.

University professors Chin-Teng Lin and Francescalacopi are the developers of this new technology. Besides, the Australian Army and Defence Innovation Hub are the partners in this project, the report states.

In order to use this trailblazing technology, the only thing the users require is a to wear a sensor based augmented reality lens that looks similar to an augmented reality gaming instrument.

This technology can have a groundbreaking implications and spearhead new transformations within multiple fields. It can completely change the way humans communicate to machines. For example, by using this technology people with disabilities might be able to control their wheelchair without any tough or voice instructions, making their lives much easier.

Likewise, this can also be significantly useful in the manufacturing and aerospace industries in multiple ways.

The developers wish to make further advances in this technology. Furthermore, the also hope that it will be successful in achieving its objectives and will secure the interest of the scientific community, businesses, and governments.

With Artificial Intillegence being the current ruler within the sphere of technology and communications, will though driven man-machine communication be next frontier? But, will such technologies be really able to precisely decode our thoughts?
