Coldplay becomes the first eco-friendly music band

Climate/Culture Desk: Coldplay has the first musical band to publicly release its official report on their contribution to sustainability and climate change.

The world famous music band has shared a report on its contribution to climate action through its ongoing world tour named after its album “Music of the Spheres”.

According to its announcement, so far, it has been been able to reduce its CO2 emissions by around 47 per cent compared to its previous tour in 2016-2017.

It has also been successful in the initiative of planting 5 million trees during this tour. It has partnered with an organization named One Tree Planted. According to onetreeplanted.org Coldplay will be planting one tree for every ticket sold on this tour. As per a report on social media, it has been able to plant around 5 million trees through this initiative.

Coldplay is proactively promoting the practice and education on sustainability in this tour through social media campaigns. On a tweet on 15 July, 2023 ahead of its Amsterdam tour, the band posted a flayer requested the ticket holders to travel to the venue by carpooling.

Alternatively, the band has also encouraged people to use public transport, use EV vehicles or bicycles to reach the venue. Furthermore, it has aloud the audiences to carry only refillable plastic bottles and avoid glass and metallic bottles.

This initiative on climate action by Coldplay is laudatory. Public events like musical concerts can be a great platform for addressing the issue of climate action and a sustainable future.
