Every year the world renowned colour company Pantone Color Institute declares the Pantone’s Color of the Year. This year the Viva Magenta 18-1750 has been chosen as the color of the year. Pantone made this announcement on December 1, 2022 through its official website.
Pantone believes that Viva Magenta is powerful and empowering and stands for ‘vim and vigor’. Descending from the family of red, the audacious Viva Magenta also embodies fearlessness, joy and optimism.
According to Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of Pantone said that ‘invoking the forces of nature’, Viva Magenta electrifies our spirit and helps us build our ‘inner strength’.
Eiseman also said that Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, which is one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.
