Global Desk: The outcome of the Brazilian elections is finally out. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva emerged victories by defeating the incumbent President Jair Bolsonaro on Monday.
The concluded elections were a direct contest between the liberal and the leftist political ideologies.
da Silva, who is famously known as Lula belongs to the Workers’ Party won the election with a small margin over Bolsonaro led Liberal Party.
According to reports, da Silva’s side received 50.9 per cent votes compared to 49.1 per cent electoral support for President Bolsonaro.
Leaders from across the globe have congratulated da Silva for the outcome.
In a Tweet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Congratulations to @LulaOficial on winning the Presidential elections in Brazil. I look forward to working closely together to further deepen and widen our bilateral relations, as also our cooperation on global issues”.
Similarly, calling the election ‘free, fair and credible’ US President Joe Biden that he looks forwards to working closely with the newly elected government and together work towards building a democratic, prosperous and equitable hemisphere.
