Regional Desk: Notable painter from Assam Neel Pawan Baruah breathed his last on Friday in Guwahati.
He was ill for a long time and admitted in the Guwahati Medical College Hospital since September 2022.
According to reports, he was suffering from blood pressure and other old age ailments.
Baruah was celebrated artist within the state of Assam and across the country.
He is credited to have founded the Assam Fine Arts and craft Society. Many of his famous paintings are in display in the State Art Gallery in Guwahati.
Neel Pawan Baruah was the spouse of the popular Assamese singer Dipali Barthakur.
Art lovers from the state, along with the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah, and people across fields have expressed their heartfelt condolences for his demise.
According to reports, Baruah’s cremation would be conducted with state honours from the Assam government on Saturday.
