Sonia Gandhi questioned by ED in relation to National Herald case

National Desk: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday in relation to a money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper.

According to reports, Gandhi arrived with her daughter Priyanka Gandhi in the office of the investigative body in New Delhi, after which she was interrogated for around three hours. The questioning team was reportedly led by an women officer.

This was the first appearance of 75-year-old Gandhi in view of this ongoing case, where Rahul Gandhi was also questioned earlier.

Congress and its allies have denounced the actions taken by the Enforcement Directorate. Senior Congress leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated that the government considers the opposition parties as their enemies.

By referring the ruling party’s Congress Mukt Bharat pledge, he added that the nation is moving towards the direction of dictatorship under the present government.

Likewise, through an official protest of the Congress party in relation to the same, it termed ED as a ‘caged parrot’ and said that the the government was misusing it to attack the opposition.
