Global Desk: The new Monkeypox infection has spread over 58 countries and has recorded more than 6,000 cases. This was stated by the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday.
Ghebreyesus also stated that Monkeypox is a cause of concern for the world. However, many cases have still not been detected as the testing of the same remains a challenge.
Monkeypox is a viral disease caused by a rare infection. It can affect both human and animals. Some of its common symptoms include cold, fever, rashes, muscle aches, tiredness, headache and so forth. The symptoms can linger for two to four weeks in an infected individual.
Monkeypox was first detected in the Democratic Republic of Congo back in the 1970s and regarded as an endemic in many Africa countries. Although, its impact was mild. The disease have remerged again in 2022 and has impacted a number of countries including Canada, United States, United Kingdom and others.
