Nomination process begins for Vice President elections

National Desk: The nomination process for the election for the Vice President of India will begin from 5th July 2022. This was announced by the Election Commission of India in a recent notification.

The nomination process will end on 19th of July, and the withdrawal of candidature can be done till July 22. The election will be conducted on August 6.

Alternatively, the office term of the present Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu ends on 10th of August.

The members of the Upper House and the Lower House are eligible to cast their votes for the Vice President. The voting of the same happens through secret ballot.

The ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has clear advantage over others given the number of elected representatives it has in both the houses.

Unlike the forthcoming Presidential elections, no names of any potential candidate have been disclosed by any party so far. It is also unclear if Naidu will be re-nominated for the post again.
