Yoga events organized across India on International Yoga Day

National Desk: International Yoga Day was observed across the world on Tuesday. In India, which is the epicentre of Yoga, people from different walks of life, including government officials, and celebrities came together to participate in various mass yoga events organized throughout the country.

While participating in such an event in Mysuru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Yoga is not only beneficial for individual peace, but it is a medium of universal harmony.

He also said that the universe starts from our own body and soul, and the practice of yoga ignites social consciousness which as a result establishes a sense of awareness among us.

By stating the theme of this year’s yoga day which is “Yoga for Humanity”, Modi thanked the United Nations and the global community for adopting this and said that Yoga has now become a global festival which has benefited the entire humanity.

International Yoga Day is observed on the 21st of June every year. This year it is the 8th International Yoga Day. Its main objective is to spread awareness and popularize this ancient Indian discipline comprising of multiple asanas and practices which is now performed across the globe.
