Bangladesh Celebrates Independence Day, India Sends Greetings

Global Desk, 26 March, 2022: Bangladesh celebrated it Independence Day on Saturday.

To mark the occasion, the national flag of Bangladesh was hoisted in the government and private buildings and offices across the country.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also offered their respects to the martyrs of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War against West Pakistan at its National War Memorial.

Besides, people across the country, including many private and government organizations held different cultural events on this day. Important buildings and offices were also decorated with lights and candles.

Taking on to the social media, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh sent its greetings to its citizens and its friends abroad.

India also extended its well wishes and greetings to the people of Bangladesh on this historical day.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of India S. Jaishankar in Tweet said that India looks forward to working together with Bangladesh and add more pages to its golden relationship.

“Warm greetings to FM Dr AK Abdul Momen and the Government and people of #Bangladesh on their National Day. Look forward to working together to add more pages to the golden chapter of India-Bangladesh Maitri,” he said

Bangladesh celebrates its Independence Day on 26th March every year in remembrance of the liberation war against Pakistan in 1971. On this day, the nation pays its respects to the martyrs of the war.

India has always been an important friend for Bangladesh. India played a crucial role in making Bangladesh an independent and sovereign nation, by extending its helping hand in the 1971 Liberation War, during which thousands of Indian soldiers also sacrificed their lives.
