COVID INDIA: 12 to 14 yrs. old can now receive their first jab

National Desk, 15 March, 2022: The COVID vaccine campaign in India is set to reach its next stage. On Tuesday, the Ministry of Heath announced that children within the age group of 12 to 14 years can now receive their first jab of the vaccine.

According to an official press release all beneficiaries within this age group can now receive their COVID vaccines from 16th of March, which also happens to be the National Vaccination Day.

However, the COVID vaccine they would receive will be Corbevax, which has been manufactured by Hyderabad based Biological E. Limited.

Beneficiaries will be able to book their vaccine slots online, through the COWIN application or they can directly walk into the vaccination centres.

They will be required to take the second jab after an interval of 28 days.

Concerning this, all government vaccination centres have been asked to prepare for the same and organize specialized centres for this age group.

Additionally, the notification has also stated that people above 60 years can now also take their precautionary or third doses of the vaccine from 16th of March.
