Global Desk, 14 March, 2022: On Sunday, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the social media and technology giant Meta and a number of other top platforms for showing their spirited support to the people of Ukraine.
Through a statement on Twitter, Zelensky said that the imposition of war on Ukrainian territory by Russia is not only a military confrontation, but also an attack on the ‘information space’.
“War is not only a military confrontation on Ukrainian land. It is also a fierce battle in the information space. I want to thank Meta and a number of other platforms that have an active position, which help and stand side by side with the Ukrainians,” he said.
Moreover, in another Tweet, Zelensky also urged technology brands like Microsoft, Oracle, SAP to stop supporting their products in Russia.
Earlier, in view of the conflict in Ukraine, Meta had stated that the company was closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine and would take the necessary steps in support of the people.
Besides, Meta also ran an online campaign to raise humanitarian aid for Ukraine and also took measures to restrict fake and propaganda based information from state-controlled profiles in their platform.
