BJP Shines in Assam Municipality Elections

Regional Desk, 09 March, 2022: The results of the municipality polls held in Assam was announced on Wednesday.

The ruling party Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) has secured the highest number of seats and emerged with a landslide victory.

As per the announcement from the Assam State Election Commission, out of 80 civic body seats that went to the polls, the BJP and its allies managed to win a whopping 77 and emerged as the single largest party.

On the other hand, the largest opposition party in the state, the Indian National Congress (INC) failed miserably and managed to win only one seat.

Viewing this, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his gratitude to the people of the state for choosing BJP and its allies in these elections.

Further, Modi also said that the results show people’s faith and confidence in the developmental agenda of the party.

Likewise, the Chief Minister of the state Himanta Biswa Sarma has also thanked the people of Assam and said that the results reflect the trust the people have on the vision of Prime Minister Modi and the party.
