Global Desk: On Saturday, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy turned down an evacuation offer from the United States of America.
In reply to the offer, Zelenskyy said that he does not need a ride, but more ammunition to fight Russian aggression.
“The fight is here, I need more ammunition, not a ride,” he said.
Earlier, during a late night video message in Russian language from Kyiv, Zelenskyy had stated that the people of Ukraine and its government want peace with Russia. However, if the nation faces assaults from Russian troops, or if their freedom is in danger, they will defend themselves and fight for their land.
He also said that “When you attack us you will see our faces not our backs”.
During this, he also revealed that he tried to reach out to Russian President Vladimir Putin and talk with him directly, however, the outcome was nothing but “silence”.
Referring to Putin’s statement that an invasion would liberate the people of Ukraine, he said that Ukraine is already free.
He also added that neighbours enrich each other culturally, which does not signify that that they are part of a ‘single whole’.
