New Delhi, Feb 3: According to a recent report, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is planning to launch the Chandrayaan-3 in August this year. The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh stated this on Wednesday.

Singh, during a written reply to a question in the parliament revealed that Chandrayaan-3 is in progress based on the suggestions made by the national level experts and learnings from the Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019.

He also said that the hardware related to the mission have been successfully tested and a launch is being scheduled for later this year in August.

The union minister further stated that due to the COVID pandemic a number of ongoing missions have been affected. However, several missions are planned for this year. It includes around eight launch vehicle missions, four technology demonstrator missions, and around seven spacecraft missions, he added.

Chandrayaan-2, which was launched back in 2019 ended with an abrupt failure after facing a technical glitch during its final stages.
