Sports Desk: The football pitch has been extremely vocal in raising peace and anti-war messages in regard to the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war. This was visible in the support displayed by the football clubs and fans during last week’s fixtures between some prominent teams like Liverpool FC, Manchester City and Everton.
As a result, the communist government in China has decided to order its local television broadcasters to ban the telecast of the English Premier League football matches in the country this weekend.
According to the latest reports, all the 20 clubs of the premier league will add anti-war and pro-Ukraine messages during the matches this weekend.
Additionally, the football body has also decided to include ground activities to show their solidarity and support for the war-ravaged Ukraine.
This has already been witnessed in the first match of this weekend in the King Power Stadium, between Leeds United and Leicester City. As before the kick-off, the players of both the teams stood in the centre circle of the ground and clapped along with the fans in support of the civilians in Ukraine.
The fans also waved the Ukrainian flags, scarfs, posters with pro-peace messages, and wore blue and yellow shirts to demonstrate their support.
The stadium also displayed the slogan “Football Stands Together” during the match.
Similar scenes are also expected in the upcoming matches.
