Books written by women banned in this country
Global Desk: In a renewed assault on women’s rights, the Taliban government in Afghanistan has banned books in its universities that has been authored by women.
It has eradicated a number of books from the curriculum of its local universities which has been written by women, while also removing courses on human rights and sexual harassment.
The Taliban government banned 679 textbooks in total, out of which 140 were written by women, reports Euronews.
It claims that a penal of religious scholars and academicians in the country found these books to be against the Sharia laws.
In addition to books, it is also set to ban a number of courses that is regarded to be against religious laws.
Afghanistan, under its recently formed Taliban government remains one of the harshest places for women’s education and liberty. Earlier, it had banned its girls form going to school and accessing education, which is one of the primary human rights.
The international community and the global rights organizations have reproached this latest move.
