Sports Desk: The 2024 Paris Olympics unrolled with a glittering start with the opening ceremony on Friday 26 July.
Unlike the usual Olympic opening ceremonies, the opening ceremony this time was not held inside a stadium but across the city of Paris.
Cultural events were performed at different parts of the city with several decorated local and international artists and musicians like Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Snoop Dog performed on the occasion.
The event showcased the vibrant history, culture, and tradition of France. The entire city was illuminated with dazzling lights, with the Eiffel Tower and River Seine being the main attractions.
For the first time in the history of the games, the athletes from all the participating countries were paraded on boats on the Seine River.
Over 200 countries have participated in these Olympics, including a Refugee Olympic Team that includes refugee sportspersons coming from different parts of the world.
The Paris Olympics will last for three weeks, and along with Paris, 16 additional cities spread across metropolitan France will also host different events.
