Coronavirus is no more a global health emergency, says WHO
Global Desk: The coronavirus pandemic is not regarded as a global health emergency anymore. The World Health Organisation (WHO) stated this in Geneva on Friday, May 5.

In an official statement by WHO, which has also been shared in social media platforms, its Director General Tedros Adhanom stated that the global community’s immunity against the virus has been increasing due to vaccination. Due to this the pandemic has been on a downward trend for more than a year now.
He also said that over last one year the pressure on health systems have eased with decreasing mortality rates. This has allowed most counties to return to pre-pandemic normality.
The pandemic which is believed to have emanated from a wholesale market in Wuhan, China, was declared a global public health emergency on 30 January by the WHO. This was followed by lockdowns and deaths across the world, killing over 3.3 million people.
