Singer KK dies after a concert in Kolkata

Entertainment Desk: Popular Bollywood playback singer KK died in Kolkata after a live performance on Tuesday.

According to reports, he died of a heart attack in his hotel room soon after his performance in Kolkata’s Nazural Mancha.

Reports also say that he had already died when he was taken to a hospital in the city.

Krishnakumar Kunnath, who is popularly known as KK among his fans, lent his voice in a number of Bollywood songs. Besides, he also sang in multiple Indian languages like Tamil, Telegu, Bengali, Assamese, Malayalam, Odia, Gujarati and so forth.

Born to a Malayali family in Delhi, KK began his singing career in the advertising industry by singing for several jingles before lending his voice for filmy songs.

As a singer his songs mostly belonged to the Indian pop and rock genres. He became one of the most followed artists among the youths in India during the late 90’s and early 20’s era.

In 1999 he came up with his first music album titled ‘Pal’ which includes some of his iconic songs like ‘Hum Rahe Ya Na Rahe Pal’ and ‘Yaroon Dosti’. These songs still continues to be favourites among the music lovers even today. They are often heard being played during social gatherings like farewells and parties.

KK was 53 when he died. He left his wife Jyothy and two children.

The Indian music and film fraternity expressed its shock and condolences in social media on the sudden demise of the singer.
