Was Harvard Trump’s dream university once?
Global Desk: The Tump administration has amplified its pressure on Harvard University, by implementing financial restrictions including a proposed cap on the enrolment of international students, leading to widespread dissent among the academic community. However, did he do this because his application was rejected by Harvard once? Was Harvard his dream university once?
Recently, the US President wrote on social media platform Truth Social that a journalist named Michael Wolff – who he regarded a as a ‘Third Rate Reporter’ – had stated that his ‘beating up’ on Harvard was because he wanted to study there but did not get due to an unsuccessful application.
Trump has rejected the claims of the journalist and termed it as a false story. He clarified that he had never applied to Harvard, and had graduated from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania.
He also said that the journalist wrote a book on him, but no one wanted it because his reporting and reputation was not good.
The Trump administration had imposed several restrictions on the prestigious institution, in consequence to political protests among its academics in relation to Israel-Palestine War. This move has sparked criticism and fuelled protests from many, with some saying that Trump’ sanctions on Harvard were personally motivated.
