Global Desk: Does China want an escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan and result in to a full-fledged military war between the two neighbours? Recently, a Chinese media outlet named China Daily disseminated false claims across the web that at least three Indian fighter jets had been crashed in Kashmir.
According to a social media post by Press Information Bureau, India, the Chinese news outlet had posted an old picture of a plane crash on social media and said that three jets had been crashed in the Indian-controlled Kashmir region.
Expressing disregard to such irresponsible acts, PIB in its post said that it was part of a coordinated propaganda campaign aimed at creating panic and misleading the public.
There has been an overflow of fake and misleading news on social media in relation to India Pakistan conflict in order to generate fear and provocation between the two countries. The Indian Government has asked the public to remain watchful and verify any such misinformation before accepting them a true.
Fake news campaigns are often used as a tool to propagate fear, provocatin, and mislead the community. Media outlets often like to sensationalize such information with improper verification. This can do nothing good but further highten the tensions during the time of any crisis. It is the responisity of the media to act with intigrity in such moments, and not try to generate fear or provocation among the public. War and conflict should not be amplified but supressed.
