Global Desk/India: At a time when the world has already endured the catastrophe of multiple wars in the last three years, fresh tensions between India and Pakistan in response to the recent terror attack in Kashmir has ignited fears of yet another conflict.

A report from The Statesman says that there has been exchange of firing between the two nuclear-armed nation following the murder of 26 civilians in a tourist spot in Pahalgam, Kashmir by a group of terrorists.

According to the report it took place in multiple locations within the Indo-Pak border, with no causalities, however. The report also suggests that the exchange of bullets was first initiated by the Pakistani side, after which the Indian Army responded efficiently in self-defence.

Moreover, based on intelligence inputs the Indian Army in its official X account also declared the possibility of the presence of further terrorists in the region, against which they have launched a search operation.

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir also chaired a security meeting with the Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on 25 April in view of the situation.

Meanwhile, the diplomatic and trade war has already begun between the two hostile neighbours. Following the attack, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty, cancelled Pakistani visas, closed the Attari border. In reply, Pakistan took the step of closing its air space, compelling Indian air carriers to opt longer routes, resulting higher fares for Indian passengers and operating costs for Indian airlines.

Will the recent attack on Indian civilians by a Pakistan based terror group, combined with the resultant trade and diplomatic tussle translate into a potential military war between the two nations again?
