Severe air pollution makes life toxic in Delhi, schools shut
Sci-Tech Desk: Due to the highly toxic and hazardous air pollution in India’s capital New Delhi, all schools in the city have been shut and classes have been shifted online. This was announced on social media by the Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena on Friday 15 November.
As per the data by aqicn.org PM2.5 level have reached even 490 around the national capital region, which is regarded extremely hazardous. It can cause adverse emergency health problems like problems like heart and respiratory ailments that can restrict normal breathing.
Based on the reports from the media, this toxic situation is likely to continue for the next few days.
New Delhi is a key tourist attraction in India, and is known for many things, starting from its political significance to historical attractions. However, in recent times it has also earned an infamous reputation of being one of the top-most polluted cities in the world. Its air pollution which mostly starts reaching its peak in between autumn and winter has resulted in several deaths and respiratory ailments among its dwellers, making clean air highly demanding.
