Global Desk: Prominent newspaper group based in the UK, The Guardian has left X and will no longer be posting on the social media platform.
This was announced by the newspaper after the results of the US Presidential Elections where Trump made a historical comeback with the backing of X owner Elon Musk.
The Guardian, which is one of the reputed newspapers in the UK stated to its readers that it would no longer be posting on X, although would continue using the platform for news gathering and reporting.
In its justification, the newspaper stated that X was surpassed by negative and disturbing content.
It also stated that X was a toxic media platform which was being used for far-right propaganda and racism.
It further added that the decision to leave the platform was taken after its coverage of the US Presidential Election where its owner Elon Musk had been using it for propaganda and shape political discourse.
The Guardian has over 80 accounts on X and around 27 million followers. Founded in 1821, it is one of the top circulated daily newspapers and a prominent journalistic brand in Britain.
However, exiting from X after it was taken over by Elon Musk is not limited to media organization like the Guardian only. A report from The Statesman states that several celebrated journalists from leading media brands like the New York Times and the CNN have also left the platform.
